Tune in right now, DJ NPrevail on the 1’s and 2’s spinnin’ dope music for the people!

revisionmusic:

Tune in TONIGHT from 8pm-10pm (PST). It’ll be my first time (co)-hosting the show, so let’s see what kind of zany awkwardness will come of it!!
But seriously though, we’re gonna be covering a lot of good topics (especially our recent trip to Chicago).

One of the greatest highlights of the Road to Resistance Cultural Night in Chicago! Power Struggle and a long with my most recent favorite MCs. I don’t even wanna rap anymore lmao They killed it that night

International League of People’s Struggles’ Road to Resistance Cultural night. 3 basic problems by Power Struggle feat. Kiwi Illafonte @andrea & Valerie Francisco. The return of Rhapsodista’s SHO SHOCK!!!!!!

The type of agitation you need before rollin to a march the next day!

‎The artist is always a participant. He tries to be true not only to his craft but also to himself. For it is the supreme duty of the artist to investigate the truth, no matter what forces attempt to hide it. And then to report it to the people, to confront them with it, like a whiplash that will cause wounds but will free the mind from the various fantasies and escapist fare that the Establishment pollutes our minds with.

Not being racist is not some default starting position. You don’t simply get to say you’re not a racist; not being racist — or a sexist or a homophobe — is a constant, arduous process of unlearning, of being uncomfortable, of eating crow and being humbled and re-evaluating. It’s probably hard to start that process if you’ve been told that every thought you have is golden and should be given voice, and that people who are offended by what you say are hypersensitive simpletons.

This go hard. I am mos def a sneaker head, and I’ve been a sneaker head ever since 6th grade which is really bad. I am still trying to get over the fact that I need shoes every couple months which is super unnecessary. The only shoes I’ve always dreamed of having are Jordan’s and I would have different feelings about it. For the longest, I would be on and off about having some Jordan’s seeing if it would be necessary or not.

revisionmusic:

I didn’t like this song when it first came out, but it grew on me.

For the record though, I don’t consider myself a shoe head (in the conventional sense) — you won’t see me camping out overnight to cop the newest Jordans, refusing to buy something because it’s not “exclusive” enough, or judging other people because their shoe game is “weak”. I was never really all that into shoes, but something came over me in 2011 and I ended up buying more kicks last year than I had in the previous 2-3 years combined (wtf?!).

I know that this is just a manifestation of the culture of consumerism brought about by capitalism, so there are contradictions involved (along with my use of alliteration, lol), but dammit…nothing beats a fresh pair of kicks, nahmsayin?!

This is something that we can all take and internalize for the better as a whole society to create social change in the community.

Rap Collaboration of the Day: Fifteen years after his death, a hologram version of Tupac capped off Coachella‘s first weekend, joining Snoop Dogg for “2 of Americaz Most Wanted” in a set that included Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Wiz Khalifa. Though Tupac “was the least dynamic of the parade of rappers young and old who held the mike,” according to the Los Angeles Times, his appearance begs the question: Who’s next?

[shortformblog]

I was hella shocked by this last night. I couldn’t believe it. What I would give to see 2pac live. This is the closest I can get. So ill. Tupac Amaru Shakur lives on!

Technology — that s**t cray.
