There are thousands of families leaving their own motherland, the Philippines. These people are leaving their own mothers, brothers, sisters, grand parents, children, just to find a better life and provide for their family back home. Most of the OFW’s go overseas and the conditions they are living in and working in are worse.

So called “America” is the land of opportunity, but why are our own parents dealing with discrimination, exploitation, and constantly feeling so much fear because of their status in the U.S and everywhere else. Their own homeland can’t even provide jobs and education, and the basic needs that every human deserves on this earth.

The government appreciates cheap labor, that is why thousands of Filipino’s leave the country. They make money off of the OFW’s, so when the OFW’s send remittances (sending money) back home the Philippines, the government will tax them.

Since the Philippines is in debt and they can’t pay back hella years worth of the money they borrowed from them big ol’ banks to “develop” the country, they take a portion from our own families who are sending money to the Philippines and use it to pay off the country’s debt and put more $$$ in the politicians pockets, and keep the rich richer…

This problem still exists until this day, and I am also a son of an OFW. OFW’s come here with a sense of happiness, then a couple months or even weeks pass by, they start to deal with depression, and lose hope. This problem has to break, and we need to learn why our parents come and what are the root causes of Filipino’s leaving their homeland every single day just to search for a better life, and take action against the injustices of our own parents, and relatives as a community. We all deserve the right to be with our families, human rights and the right to basic needs in our own community so we don’t have to go overseas just to live a better life.

This saying is true “The rich get richer, and the poor gets poorer”.
